Exclusively inclusive river cruising

From the legacy of design pioneer Ferdinand Porsche to today's high-tech automobile production processes, celebrate Central Europe’s contributions to automotive history and culture on a unique Danube River cruise.

Visits to automobile factories, vintage car collections and museums, racing facilities and more highlight a very special 12-day journey featuring a 7-night Danube River cruise spotlighting the rich automotive legacy of Central Europe. Explore both Buda and Pest during a two-night stay in Hungary’s capital. In Bratislava, embark on a walking tour of Slovakia’s capital or a visit to its Volkswagen plant. Activities in the celebrated Austrian capital, Vienna, include a sightseeing tour of this former Imperial city, a gala dinner and a visit to a technology museum. In the Danube’s Wachau Valley wine region, enjoy a tasting of the area’s wines and a bicycling trip. Call on Linz for a walking tour or an excursion to the Ferdinand Porsche Experience in  Mattsee, celebrating the famed auto designer’s life. Explore Passau, Bavaria’s “City of Three Rivers,” on a walking tour or bike excursion. Choose a city tour of historic Regensburg on the Danube, or a visit to a nearby BMW factory. Discover the important city of Frankfurt on a two-night stay, including its modern role as the European headquarters of many international car companies. Read Less

Tour the Volkswagen Bratislava Plant

Behind the scenes at Volkswagen's Bratislava Plant

Plunge into the world of automobile production at the Volkswagen Bratislava Plant, one of three production facilities of Volkswagen Slovakia, which was established in 1991 and is now one of the most important companies in the country. The tour begins in the Visitor Center, where you'll see the models manufactured in Bratislava and receive introductory information on the facility, then takes you behind the scenes to show you the state-of-the-art technologies used in manufacturing models including the purely electrical Volkswagen e-up! and Volkswagen Touareg Hybrid, representative of the company's ever more green vehicles.

The Ferdinand Porsche Experience

Discover the life and work of Ferdinand Porsche

The Bohemian-born pioneer automobile designer Ferdinand Porsche once said, "I was unable to find the racing car of my dreams, so I built it myself." The life and work of Porsche – whose legacy includes not only the high-performance marque that bears his name, but also the Volkswagen and much more – is the focus of the fahr(T)raum (the Ferdinand Porsche Experience), an interactive museum founded by his grandson in Mattsee, Austria. More than just a standard exhibition of historic vehicles, the museum offers you a hands-on experience that breathes life into the history of Porsche, and actively demonstrates the pioneering technologies used to build his cars.

The Hungaroring Motorsports Complex

Explore the world of Formula 1 racing at Hungaroring

Built in 1986 to host the first Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix, the Hungaroring motorsports complex, set amidst the rolling hills of Mogyoród outside Budapest, was the first Formula 1 racetrack built behind what was then known as the "Iron Curtain." Today, having hosted the 35th Hungarian Grand Prix in 2020, Hungaroring is Hungary's national motorsports center and one of only 21 Formula 1 racetracks worldwide permitted to host a world championship run, including the FIA’s World Touring Car Cup. Your visit to this world-class complex includes tours of the racetrack, the pits, the Race Control Center and more.

Tauck Exclusive – Imperial Evening at Palais Pallavicini

Our gala Imperial Evening at a private palace in Vienna

Built in 1784, the sumptuous Palais Pallavicini is a grand private palace in the heart of Vienna whose magnificent Baroque touches transport you to another time. Join us at the Palais for a gala evening featuring a reception, dinner and classical performances sure to sweep you off your feet... and let you experience firsthand how Europe's cultured classes lived and were entertained centuries ago. And film fans will note that the Palais and its elegant facade served as rogue Harry Lime's postwar Vienna apartment in the Cold War classic "The Third Man."
